Graphic front - gf books - 1. printed media

Graphics without computer. 40 years of modest achievements
The first volume is dedicated to the printed image.

Release
We released the book at Cafe Verona, Cărturești, on December 4th 2010. The release was completed by a small exhibition with few of the posters included in the volume.
Visual content
The chosen images were about 400. The selection was hard to make from thousands of images. We chose to give more space and have fewer images but bigger on the page, rather than too many and small; and out of respect for foreign readers we have translated nearly all the text content on the posters and all other materials.

You can find some images from the book here:
- theatre, festivals, propaganda, labour protection
- labels of matches, games, packaging, envelopes
- covers of books, booklets, magazines, children books
- stamps drawings
- advertising
Text
The written part of the book is not very big, but it is substantial. Viviana Iacob tells us about representation and its role in building society and Călin Torsan evokes personal experiences. Both texts are accompanied with quotes of Irina Nicolau, Iosif Cova, Marin Sorescu [important Romanian cultural personalities] etc. The book starts with a foreword of the editor and ends with a chronology of almost all publications of the period, gathered by Mihai Tudoroiu.
Specs
The 160 pages, 16.5 x 23.5 cm format, are full-color printed.
We have chosen a ivory tinted paper, offset clarex literatura ivory 120g. The well bound signatures are enclosed in a matt laminated hardcover, with a full-color printed endpaper also.

Mult succes!
