Ford Motor Company was founded in 1903 in the United States by the legendary Henry Ford and in 1931 opened a representative office in Romania. In 1935, Ford bought a field in Floreasca neighborhood (in Bucharest) on which he built the first factory in the Eastern Europe, with an annual production capacity of 2,500 cars and trucks. From the drive lines Ford ROM~​​NA SAR, the model V-8 came out in May 1936, model that was also promoted in the local media.

In 1941, there were registered 36,849 vehicles in Romania, from which 22,324 cars, 7,503 freight cars, 1166 buses/coaches, 3070 tractors and 477 fire trucks/ rescue cars. We do not know how many of them were Ford, but this was one of the first car manufacturers in Romania. In the same period there were resellers (dealers, representatives) and Ford workshops in 20 cities: Arad, Botoşani, Braşov, Bucureşti (three locations), Cernăuţi, Chişinău, Cluj, Constanţa, Craiova, Focşani, Galaţi, Iaşi, Oradea, Piteşti, Ploieşti, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Târgovişte, Târgu Mures, Timişoara.
