You can go and visit Ioan Ciucurcă's exhibition, Afiș +, opened until June 8, at Simeza Gallery, in Bucharest. You will find there the recent works of the Romanian graphic designer: posters for festivals, biennales, exhibitions, book covers and catalogues. Scroll down for more information about the artist:

Born on September 19, 1948 at Voila, Brașov County (Romania). Attends the high School of Art from Cluj / Romania (1963– 1968). Studies biology at the University of Cluj (1968–1969) and graphics at the Ion Andreescu Institute of Fine Arts in the same town (1968–1973). Graduates Institute’s post-graduate courses of engraving and chromatic photography (1973–1974). In 1974, after discovering in the library archive of the Institute several original photos shot by Constantin Brancusi, publishes the study “Brancusi as a Photographer” in the Steaua review. After 1975 works as a graphic designer in Bucharest (Romania), at first with an enterprise specialized in setting up museums and exhibitions.
Concomitantly participates in prestigious drawing, engraving and poster exhibitions (“Joan Miró International Prize for Drawing” from Barcelona (Spain), International Triennial of Drawing from Wroclaw (Poland), International Exhibition of Original Drawings from Rijeka (Croatia), International Biennial of Poster from Mexico City (Mexico), International Biennial of Poster from Lahti (Finland). Since 1991 works as a free-lancer and cooperates with well-known institutions of either cultural or socio-commercial profile, for which he draws posters and does different design works (books, catalogues, exhibitions, visual identities and other graphic documents). Has solo exhibitions of drawing and digital graphics in Münster (Germany), Vienna and Winden am See (Austria), Rome (Italy), Brancovan Palace at Mogoșoaia and Bucharest (Romania).

His works belong to the collection of The National Museum of Contemporary Art from Bucharest, of The Brancovan Palace at Mogoºoaia (Romania), of Victoria & Albert Museum from London (UK), as well as to the collection of The International Biennial of Poster from Mexico City (Mexico), of The International Triennial of Poster from Lahti (Finland) or in private residences from Germany. Coordinates the Annual Exhibition of Romanian Graphics, an all-country cultural event. Publishes his thoughts on the voyage to Mexico in the book An Almost Mexican Journal and a family memoir in Father or the Pear-tree in Front of the House.

Petru ca tot ati scris citeva rinduri / si imagini/ despre mine, pentru care va multumesc in mod deosebit, in masura in care va interteseaza va informez ca doua dintre afisele mele recente au fost selectionate de juriul international si figureaza in A XIII editie a Bienalei Internationale de Afis din Mexioco - /BICM /.

Ginduri bune si mult succes in cea ce faceti si promovati!
