Bucharest-based band MULTUMULT aims to reach a musical expression independent from the premeditation of the artistic gesture. Thus, tradition and musical training are, once again, challenged by being placed face to face with relativism, and musical instruments are reduced to mere means of an expression that is freed even from message.
Multumult was established as a meeting place for improvising musicians and can take on multiple avatars. It can be a duet, trio or quartet, and can play electronic or wholly acoustic music. Therefore, the line-up is not a fixed one, although we are attempting to impose ourselves as a trio: Călin Torsan (wind instruments), Victor Podeanu (electric guitar) and Marius Achim (drums).
We also have an upcoming studio album that has evolved unexpectedly and will be produced by a Greek experimental music mini-label, Thirsty Leaves.

The post-production of the album, entitled ZIGZAG, will be completed by the end of this year. The album contains 3 recordings (ZIG – DEDAL – ZAG), with a total length of about 40 minutes. It was recorded in early 2015 in the Traian 150 studio, with Costin Dumitrache at the mixing table. The full line-up consisted of: Călin Torsan (fistulae, alto saxophone, clarinet and vocals), Victor Podeanu (electric guitar), Andrei Kivu (midi cello) and Juan Carlos Negretti (drums).

călin torsanSour and cold like Romanian ground beef and potato salad. Queasy like mayonnaise. Good on the holidays and bad during the rest of the year. Has olives instead of eyes and bell pepper slices instead of lips.
